The spectacular Mackenzie Falls is one of Victoria’s largest falls.  It is around 350 meters above sea level and between forty-one and sixty-eight meters high. It forms part of the four falls in the Mackenzie River gorge and is among the few that carry water all year round. The falls get its water from Lake Wartook, which is held up by dams in order to secure a continuous supply of water. Summer, which is during February, sees a delicate and gentle flow of water from the great heights into a calm pool. In times of drought, a fine trickle of water can be observed on the rocks. On the other hand, winter, which is between June and October, witnesses gushing torrents of water pouring down from the massive cliffs into a deep pool due to high rainfall registered during that period of the year.

Furthermore, there are a series of steps that lead to the base of the waterfall and the view is even more extraordinary as one gets closer to the pool. Fine sprays of water forming a mist around the falls greet you on your way down to the bottom of the cascade. Large boulders can also be seen around the pool and they can be used as resting place to further contemplate the magnificence of the Mackenzie Falls.
